It’s not very often that one gets a chance to welcome back a former colleague. Fortunately for us, we had the pleasure of welcoming Laurie Allen back to the Penn Libraries last week as the new Assistant Director for Digital Scholarship!
From 2002 – 2008, Laurie worked in our Research and Instructional Services department as Social Sciences Data Librarian. Most recently, Laurie has been working at Haverford College Library as the Coordinator of Digital Scholarship and Services. For the past four years, she has been deeply immersed in the design, roll-out, and support of their digital scholarship program. She has also been actively engaged in both regional and national organizations and collaborations around digital scholarship through presentations, panels, and research projects.
Laurie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Bard College, and a Master’s of Library and Information Science from Simmons College. With her humanities background, library expertise, and her experience in digital scholarship, she comes back to Penn well-equipped to lead a team that will provide oversight, coordination, and support for digital publishing and open access, data services and management, digital humanities/digital scholarship.
Laurie will play a valuable role in growing our digital scholarship initiatives here at Penn, and we’re happy to have her on our TRL team. We look forward to seeing what she will do and are so glad to see her back on campus.
Please feel free to get in touch with Laurie and welcome her back to Penn. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
